The exciting extra-inning contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a aggregate 51M spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB stated this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic finale since the 1991 contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

The Saturday epic game drew over 27 million audience members on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English program in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-match series averaged 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the total US average was over 16 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded over 8 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to last year and the network’s best postseason ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
