Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior representative said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
